Schwarz-Weiß Essen the football club in the South of Essen
The city of Essen is best known for mining, pit culture and blue-collar workers. But also for a successful structural change and transformation to an industrial metropolis. And of course for football. Because what would a real metropolis of the Ruhr Area be without a tradition-rich football club?
Located in the South of Essen, ETB's professional team is currently playing in the Oberliga Niederrhein. Home matches are held at the venerable Uhlenkrug stadium which provides space for about 10.000 spectators and is equipped with standing places as well as sheltered seats.
Get to know our football club with a rich tradition since 1900
Our football department already looks back on more than 117 years of tradition and not least set the course for the careers of successful German internationals such as Oliver Bierhoff and Jens Lehmann. Winning the DFB-Pokal in 1959 was our greatest success so far.
For also being successful in the future, our club especially banks on educating young talents. Already the youngest can gather their first kicking experiences with us and with our teams in the U9 to U19 leagues we are optimally positioned in the youth sector. For example, our U15, U17 and U19 teams are playing in the second league of Germany. In the youth field we particularly benefit from our cooperation with Rot-Weiß Essen.
Feel free to stop by and be engrossed in one of our matches! Enjoy a grilled bratwurst, tasty cake and celebrate the next home win with a cold pilsner beer. You see, we don't miss out on your creature comforts, because we always want to give our all – on the pitch as well as for our fans!
